WAVERLY — Waverly coach Jason Miller acknowledges his team got outplayed, and even manhandled in its 40-20 Homecoming loss to Norwich Friday, but the defeat had nothing to do with a lack of effort.
DRYDEN — Dryden scored on a penalty kick late in the second 10-minute overtime in a 1-0 win over Waverly here Saturday night that kept the Lady Wolverines from winning their third consecutive overall IAC Large School championship.
MARATHON — Junior Collin Wright and sophomore Nate Ackley led the Waverly boys to a sixth-place finish in the rugged Seeded Division at the Marathon Invitational Saturday, while the Tioga finished 23rd in the Unseeded Division.
MARATHON — Waverly senior Sheridan Talada finished second in the rugged Seeded Division, and senior Elizabeth Fritzen finished in the top 20 here Saturday at the Marathon Invitational, and the remainder of the Lady Wolverines finished 15th in the Unseeded Division.
WAVERLY — Waverly scored twice in a 15-second span late in the second quarter to pull within seven points, but Norwich dominated the second half en route to a 40-20 win to spoil Homecoming here Friday night at Memorial Stadium.
SAYRE — In a rather unique and entertaining event, UNICO hosted a coin toss to see which school would host the Waverly-Athens football game on Nov. 2.
WATKINS GLEN — Watkins Glen won 10 of the first 11 events to finish off an unbeaten regular season with a 108-73 win over Waverly here Thursday afternoon in IAC girls swimming action.
