ORTIZ POSTS THREE TOP-THREE FINISHES AT SECTION IV CLASSIC

ITHACA — Senior Melina Ortiz recorded a trio of top-three finishes to pace Waverly’s efforts here Saturday afternoon in the 38-team field at the Section IV Classic at Cornell University’s Barton Hall.
Ortiz finished second in the 55-meter dash in 7.6 seconds, and was also second in the 300-meter dash in 43.41 seconds.
Ortiz finished third in the 600-meter run in a time of 1:43.42.
Senior Cora Smith finished third in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 11:02.58
Senior Elizabeth Fritzen finished sixth in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 3:16.4, and senior Paige Ackley was seventh in 3:17.71.
Senior Alyssa Simonetti finished sixth in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 9.93 seconds.
Senior Marissa Eisenhower was eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 32-feet, 9-inches. She was 14th in the shot put with a heave of 29-feet.
Senior Zoe Lunduski was 10th in the 1,500-meter race walk in a time of 10:34.68, and senior Rachel Ovedovitz was 12th in 10:55.85.
Sophomore Emily Tully was 16th in the high jump at 3-feet, 9-inches.
Waverly returns to action Friday in the Section IV Class meet at Ithaca College.
