ENDWELL — Waverly senior Gage Streeter was not ready for his high school career to come to an end, and he kept it going in record-setting and dramatic fashion.
OWEGO — Waverly will be well-represented in the individual "A" finals at the Section IV Class B Boys Swimming & Diving Championships Saturday following top-eight showings in the preliminaries here Wednesday. The Wolverines will also have a pair of relays competing for titles.
WAVERLY — With newly-minted 1,000-point scorer junior Sidney Tomasso on the bench after fouling out, senior Paige Lewis canned a 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation to force overtime, but Vestal proved too much in the extra session, pulling out a 69-65 win here Tuesday evening in non-league girls basketball action.
WAVERLY — Watkins Glen used a 16-3 run in a 7-minute span that bridged the first and second quarters to take a 10-point lead, and never saw its advantage dip below five points the remainder of the game on its way to a 60-50 win over Waverly here Tuesday night in a divisional playoff for the IAC South Large School boys basketball title.
WAVERLY — Waverly turned up the defensive intensity to overcome a slow start in a 65-31 romp over Ithaca here Monday night in non-league girls basketball action.
WAVERLY — Waverly used a strong second quarter to take control en route to a season-ending 61-42 win over Chenango Forks here Saturday evening in non-league boys junior varsity basketball action.
LANSING — Waverly jumped out to an eight-point lead in the first quarter, and pulled away for a 67-46 win over Lansing to win the overall IAC Large School junior varsity boys basketball championship here Friday night.
WAVERLY — Waverly built an 11-point halftime advantage, then needed a big fourth-quarter run to top Elmira, 40-30, here Friday evening in non-league junior varsity girls basketball action.
WAVERLY — Senior Scotty Woodring turned in another outstanding performance, including his 1,000th career points, but it wasn’t enough as Chenango Forks used a big fourth quarter to pull out a 58-47 decision here Saturday night in non-league boys basketball action.
ITHACA — Waverly senior Isaac Chandler will be flying solo at the state meet this year after repeating as Section IV champ in the pole vault here Saturday at the Indoor Track & Field State Qualifier at Cornell University.
VESTAL — All five of Waverly’s bowlers finished in the top 25 to help the Lady Wolverines to a fourth-place finish her Friday at the Section IV, Class C Championships at Midway Lanes.

BINGHAMTON — Two years removed from finishing 24th in the 26-team field at the Section IV, Division 2 championships, Waverly had four place-finishers, led by 160-pound champ senior Ethan Stotler (see related story), to finish sixth here Saturday night at the Veterans Memorial Arena.
