WAVERLY JV ROLLS OVER WATKINS GLEN; IMPROVES TO 16-

WATKINS GLEN — Waverly held Watkins Glen to just one field goal in the first half, rolling to an 18-point halftime lead, and a 44-14 win here Thursday night in IAC junior varsity girls basketball action.
Addison Westbrook canned a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter, and Peyton Shaw also had six points, including a 3-pointer to fuel a 14-2 blitz in the first eight minutes.
Westbrook knocked down another 3-pointer in a 7-1 spurt that pushed the Lady Wolverines’ lead to 21-3 at the half.
Westbrook and Shaw both knocked down 3-pointers and scored five points apiece in the third quarter to spark a 15-6 run that extended the Waverly lead to 36-9 entering the final eight minutes.
Westbrook, who hit four 3-pointers, and Shaw, who connected on a trio of 3-pointers, led Waverly with 16 points apiece, while Paige Robinson added seven points, and Ashlen Croft chipped in with five points.
Waverly, now 16-2, returns to action tonight when it hosts Elmira.
