KITTLE LOGS THREE SECOND-PLACE FINISHES AT CLASS B MEET

ENDWELL — Eighth-grader Mira Kittle finished in the top four in four
events, including three second-place finishes, and junior Sophia DeSisti
had four top-five finishes to lead Waverly to a fourth-place finish
here Saturday afternoon at the Section IV, Class B swimming
Maine-Endwell claimed the team title with 502.5 points, edging runner-up Chenango Valley, which tallied 489.5 points. Oneonta was third with 253 points, while Waverly had 241 points, and Norwich finished fifth with 236 points.
Kittle had Waverly’s only two runner-up finishes in individual events. She finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in a personal-best time of 25.94 seconds, and also finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:05.57
Kittle teamed with DeSisti, and seniors Lourden Benjamin, and Willow Sharpsteen to finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:48.62. The time placed the foursome ninth in program history.
Kittle, DeSisti, and Benjamin teamed with senior Delaney Vascoe to finish third in the 200-yard medley relay in a season-best time of 2:03.63.
DeSisti finished third in the 200-yard freestyle in a personal-best time of 2:11.23, and 8th-grader Liz Robinson was 12th in a personal-best of 2:19.68.
DeSisti finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle in a personal-best time of 58.55 seconds, which puts her 10th in program history.
Benjamin finished fourth in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:31.78, and Sharpsteen was eighth in 2:45.42.
Sharpsteen, Vascoe, Robinson and junior Josie VanDyke teamed to finish fifth in the 400-yard freestyle in a time of 4:29.95.
Benjamin finished seventh in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:10.51, and Vascoe was 8th in 6:16.09.
Sharpsteen finished eighth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:13.91, and Robinson was 12th in 1:16.29.
Vascoe finished 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:23.48.
