NOTRE DAME SHUTS DOWN WAVERLY, 5-

SOUTHPORT — Olivia Switzer tossed a 1-hitter, and was 3-for-3 at the
plate to lead Notre Dame to a 5-0 win over Waverly here Wednesday
afternoon in IAC Large School softball action.
Payton Miller and Switzer stroked RBI singles in the bottom of the first inning to give Notre Dame an early lead.
Miller stroked another RBI single in the second inning to make it 3-0.
Lawson
Bigelow’s drive over the right-field fence in the bottom of the fourth
inning fave the Lady Crusaders a 4-0 lead, and Izzy Griffin added an RBI
double later in the frame to provide the final margin.
Sophomore Michaela Lauper’s one-out single in the second inning was Waverly’s only hit of the game.
Senior
Hali Jenner was tagged with the loss. She allowed five runs — three
earned — on 11 hits, while striking out five and walking none in six
innings.
Switzer fanned nine and walked three in the complete-game performance.
Waverly,
now 4-4, returns to action Saturday when it takes on Marcellus and
Homer at the Mudville Softball Complex in Herkimer, N.Y.
