WAVERLY JV CLOSES SEASON WITH 60-42 WIN OVER S-VE

WAVERLY — Waverly built a double-digit lead at the half, and pulled away
for a 60-42 win over S-VE in the season finale for both teams here
Saturday afternoon in IAC junior varsity boys basketball action.
Jay
Pipher knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points in the
first quarter, and Isaiah Bretz added four points to help Waverly to a
16-10 lead after the first eight minutes.
Pipher and Keaton
Anderson scored four points apiece, and the junior Wolverines defense
limited S-VE to just five points in a 10-5 spurt that extended the lead
to 26-15 at the half.
Bretz canned a pair of 3-pointers in the
third quarter, and Pipher also scored six points as the scoring pace
picked up. Waverly outscored S-VE, 17-14, in the stanza to take a 43-29
lead into the final eight minutes.
Bretz scored seven points in
the fourth quarter, and Carter George added six as Waverly added four
points to its lead with a 17-13 advantage in the stanza.
Pipher
led Waverly with 18 points and five steals, while Bretz had 17 points,
including a trio of 3-pointers, 11 rebounds, five assists, and three
steals, and Anderson had eight points and three boards.
Nate
DeLill had seven points, seven steals and six rebounds in the win, while
George added six points and four boards, and Kayleb Bechy chipped in
with four points and three steals
Jack Stahl led S-VE with 12 points, and Tyler Stahl and Nathan Gillette added 10 points apiece.
Waverly finished the season at 6-5, with a 6-2 record in Tioga County Division play.
