WAVERLY SWEEPS NOTRE DAME IN SEASON OPENER

SOUTHPORT — Junior Victoria Houseknecht led Waverly to a season-opening sweep of Notre Dame here Tuesday afternoon in IAC Large School girls bowling action here at Dixie Lanes.

The Lady Wolverines opened with a 770-677 win in the first game, then followed it up with wins of  834-758, and 799-684 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,403 to 2,119.

Victoria Houseknecht rolled a 571 series on games of 183, 198, and 190, while sophomore Rachel Houseknecht shot a 549 series on games of 190, 178, and 181.

Junior Shantilly Decker had a 508 for the Lady Wolverines, while freshman Serenity Conklin added a 393, senior Sage Garrison chipped in with a 382, and 7th-grader Emily Houseknecht tacked on a non-scoring 247 series.

Emma led Barkley led Notre Dame with a 463 series, and Maddie Gleason shot a 429.

Waverly returns to action Thursday when it hosts Newark Valley.
