WAVERLY SWEEPS PAST O-M IN SEASON OPENER

ODESSA — Waverly fended off a pesky O-M squad, and pulled out a season-opening sweep here Tuesday night in IAC volleyball action.

The Lady Wolverines posted wins of 25-14, 25-21, and 25-19.

“The team played well tonight,” said Waverly coach Charity Meyers. “During the second (set), O-M started getting scrappy.

“We did well with serving and got better with serve / receive as the match went on.

“We kept a good attitude and finished the game with a win,” added Meyers.

Eighth-grader Brilynn Bellis led Waverly with 12 service points, including six aces, and two digs, while junior Michaela Lauper had eight points, including five aces, 10 setter assists, and six digs, and sophomore Peyton Shaw had four points (two aces), six kills, and one block.
