ITHACA — All good things things must come to an end.
In the case
of a very young Waverly’ girls golf team, it was a 119-match
regular-season win streak coming to an end at the Ithaca Country Club
Monday afternoon by virtue of a 268-288 loss to Lansing.
It was the first loss for the Lady Wolverines dating back to the end of the 2015 season.
Senior
Haley Kittle, the team’s only golfer with varsity experience coming
into this season, led Waverly with a 50 to earn low-medal honors, while
8th-graders Lauryn DeLill and Breanne Robinson each shot rounds of 76,
and 7th-graders Sophia Sileo and Addison Hunt each tacked on rounds of
86.
Hailey Baughan led the Lady Bobcats with a 53.
Waverly, now 1-1, returns to action Thursday when it hosts Marathon, Corning and Horseheads.
