WAVERLY — Edison dominated the singles matches, and split the doubles matches in a 4-1 win over Waverly here Monday afternoon in IAC tennis action.

Paxton Grover and Nathan Novakowski earned the Wolverines’ only win the match, rallying for a three-set win over Edison’s Zach Sternfels and Imogen Reed. The Waverly dropped the first set 7-6 (7-4 tiebreaker), but bounced back with wins of 6-3 and 6-4.

The first doubles match also went three sets, with the Edison duo of Cyris Abertali and Andrew Timofeeff rallying to beat the Waverly twosome of Wayne Allen and Abigail Blauvelt, 4-6, 6-3 and 6-4.

In the singles matches, Edison ace Abe Johnson topped Waverly’s Griff Schillmoeller, 6-1 and 6-1 in the first singles match, and Edison’s Maren Lutz swept Waverly’s Ashlen Croft, 6-0 and 6-1 in the second singles match.

In the third singles match, Edison’s Ben Doland swept Waverly’s Hayden Larson, 6-0 and 6-0.

Waverly returns to action May 17 when it hosts Southern Cayuga.
