
NITTINGER LEADS WAVERLY IN 68-33 WIN OVER WATKINS GLEN

WAVERLY — Senior Olivia Nittinger had a career night, leading four
Waverly scorers in double-figures in a 68-33 win over Watkins Glen here
Monday night in IAC South Large School girls basketball action.
Nittinger
knocked down six 3-pointers, and scored a career-high 25 points, while
junior Kennedy Westbrook scored 15 points, freshman Addison Westbrook
had 10 points and two 3-pointers, sophomore Ashlen Croft added a
career-high 10 points, and senior Lourden Benjamin chipped in with five
points.
Kennedy Westbrook scored six points in the first quarter,
and Nittinger and Croft scored four points to lead Waverly to a 14-6
lead after the first eight minutes.
NIttinger scored seven
points, including her second 3-pointer, in the second quarter, and
Kennedy Westbrook added four points in a 16-6 run that extended the Lady
Wolverine lead to 30-12 at the halftime intermission.
Nittinger
drained a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points in the third
quarter, while Croft scored six points and Kennedy Westbrook canned a
3-pointer and scored five points to fuel a 19-9 run that pushed
Waverly’s advantage to 49-21 entering the final eight minutes.
Addison
Westbrook and Nittinger each connected on a pair of 3-pointers in the
closing stanza, and Benjamin added one trey in a 19-12 game-closing
advantage.
Jenna Solomon led Watkins Glen with 13 points, and Rachel Vickio added 12 points on four fourth-quarter 3-pointers.
Waverly, now 12-5, returns to action Wednesday at Thomas A. Edison.
