CORNING — The Waverly girls won four events and finished second at the Corning Fast Times Track & Field Invitational, while the Wolverine boys also won four events and finished third in the team standings.
CANDOR —Senior Bella Romano hit her first career home run, and junior Michaela Lauper registered a career high in strikeouts in leading Waverly to a 12-7 win over Candor here Friday afternoon in IAC softball action.
BIG FLATS — Unbeaten Horseheads had four players shot 48 or better in a 188-216 win over Waverly here Friday afternoon in Section IV girls golf action at Willowbrook Golf Course.
ELMIRA — Notre Dame avenged an early-season loss with a 191-197 win over Waverly here Friday in IAC boys golf action at Mark Twain Golf Course.
HORSEHEADS — Waverly erased an early five-run deficit, then let leads in the seventh and eighth innings slip through their fingers in a 10-9 nine-inning loss to Horseheads here Thursday afternoon in non-league baseball action.
WAVERLY — Seniors Jackson Knight and Davis Croft led Waverly to a four-stroke, 187-191, win over Trumansburg here Thursday afternoon in IAC boys golf action at The Club at Shepard Hills.
SOUTHPORT — For Waverly, they knew they needed to get a run early if they wanted to beat Owen Stewart and the Notre Dame Crusaders in a game to decide the division title.
