
SACKETT QUALIFIES FOR STATES; LEADS WAVERLY TO SEASON-OPENING 85-64 WIN OVER DRYDEN

DRYDEN — Senior Jerrell Sackett will be headed back to States this
season after hitting the state standard in the 50-yard freestyle
Thursday in Waverly’s season-opening, 85-64, win over Dryden in IAC boys
swimming action.
Sackett, and fellow seniors Ryan Clark, and
Oscar Williams each won four events, and junior Liam Wright was a
triple-winner for the Lady Wolverines, who won 10 of 11 events.
Sackett’s time of 21.67 seconds not only met the state standard, but established is a new pool record at Dryden.
Sackett also won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 51.16 seconds, and sophomore Paxton Grover was third in 1:09.33
Oscar
Williams won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:18.68, and freshman Finn
Williams was third in 2:32.51. Oscar Williams also won the 100-yard
backstroke in a time of 1:04.44.
Clark and Wright finished 1-2 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Clark clocked in at 1:14.14, and Wright touched at 1:15.42.
Clark also won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:01.43.
Wright won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:00.29
Sackett,
Clark, Wright, and Oscar Williams teamed to win the 200-yard freestyle
in a time of 1:31.61, which is the fastest time in the State this
season.
Oscar Williams, Clark, Grover and Finn Williams won the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:57.88.
Wright, senior Simon Stevens, Finn Williams, and Sackett won the 400-yard freestyle in a time of 4:08.89.
Finn Williams placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:23.87.
Waverly returns to action Thursday at Lansing.
