
WARD, DAVENPORT PACE WAVERLY'S EFFORTS AT SEASON-OPENING HURLEY INVITE

CORTLAND — Senior Kelsey Ward and Haylie Davenport each won one event,
and junior Elizabeth Vaughn and sophomore Harper Minaker each had a pair
of second-place finishes to pace Waverly here Saturday at the
season-opening Hurley Indoor Track & Field Invitational at SUNY
Cortland.
Ward won the 600-meter run in a time of 1:58.0, while
Davenport won the 1,500-meter race walk in a time of 9:09.52 — more than
42 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
Vaughn placed second in the
1,000-meter run in a time of 3:30.9, and freshman Mackenzie Chamberlain
was sixth in 3:54.9, while Minaker placed second in the 3,000-meter run
in a time of 12:12.97.
Minaker and Vaughn teamed with Davenport and Chamberlain to finish second in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 12:18.62.
Senior
Abigail Knolles finished fourth in the 300-meter dash in a time of 47.7
seconds, and sophomore Kendal Shaffer was 14th in 52.75 seconds.
Knolles
also finished fifth in the 55-meter dash in a time of 8.25 seconds, and
senior Natalie Garrity was 13th in 8.73 seconds.
Knolles, Ward, Shaffer and Garrity teamed to finish fourth in the 800-meter relay in a time of 2:06.43.
Senior
Josephine VanDyke finished fourth in the high jump at 4-feet, and
Shaffer was sixth at 3-feet, 6-inches. VanDyke finished seventh in the
1,500-meter run in a time of 6:39.55.
Garrity finished eighth in the long jump with a leap of 12-feet, 6 1/4-inches
BOYS
Junior
Nehemiah Anthony had the best finish of the day for the Waverly boys,
pacing fourth in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 10.63. He also
finished 11th in the long jump with a leap of 14-feet, 1-inch.
Senior Treyton Moore was seventh in the 600-meter run in a time of 1:44.6, and freshman Hayden Rowe was 14th in 1:59.6.
Sophomore Braylon DeKay was seventh in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 3:23.87, and freshman Logan Roscow was 11th in 3:40.11.
DeKay was 16th in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 6:12.55, and Roscow was 18th in a time of 6:24.2.
Freshman Mac Talada finished 22nd in the shot put with a heave of 21-feet, 2-inches.
Waverly returns to action Saturday at SUNY Cortland in the Finger Lakes Invitational.
