WATKINS GLEN AVENGES CLOSE LOSS; EDGES WAVERLY, 91-8

WATKINS GLEN — Waverly juniors Jerrell Sackett and Oscar Williams, and senior Kaden Wheeler were each triple-winners, but Watkins Glen / O-M pulled out a 91-87 win here Friday afternoon in IAC boys swimming action.

Earlier this season, at Waverly, the Wolverines topped the Seneca Indians, 91-86.

Juniors Ryan Clark and Sheldon Huddleston were each double-winners for the Wolverines, who fall to 4-3 on the season.

The difference in the match proved to be 10-0 advantage WG / O-M earned in the diving competition.

Sackett won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.91 seconds. Sackett also won the 100-yard freestyle in 50.14 seconds, and Clark was second in 51.84 seconds.

Wheeler won the 200-yard IM in 2:08.84, and Williams was second in 2:14.5. Wheeler also won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 55.03 seconds

Williams won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 58.24 seconds.

Williams and Clark, who were both part of the winning 200-yard medley relay, teamed with Huddleston and 8th-grader Finn Williams to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:38.88.

Wright, Wheeler, Sackett, and Huddleston teamed to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:35.9.

Sophomore Liam Wright was second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:01.31, while Finn Williams was second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:39.28, and Clark finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:10.36.

Waverly returns to action Thursday when it hosts Southern Cayuga.
