
WAVERLY PULLS AWAY FOR 56-37 WIN OVER WATKINS GLEN

WATKINS GLEN — Watkins Glen kept the game close for a quarter, but
Waverly pulled away in the middle two quarters on its way to a 56-37 win
here Monday in its IAC girls basketball regular-season finale.
Junior
Kennedy Westbrook knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the first
quarter, and sophomore Peyton Shaw scored four points to help Waverly to
a 16-11 lead after the first eight minutes.
Sophomore Paige
Robinson scored six points in the second quarter, and freshman Addison
Westbrook added four points to fuel a 16-8 run that pushed the Lady
Wolverines’ lead to 32-19 at the halftime intermission.
Kennedy
Westbrook, Addison Westbrook, and 7th-grader Ryleigh Judson scored five
points apiece, and each connected on a 3-pointer in the third quarter in
a 17-8 run that extended the lead to 49-28 lead entering the final
eight minutes.
Kennedy Westbrook and Addison Westbrook scored 13
points apiece to lead Waverly, while Shaw and Judson had eight points
apiece, Robinson added six points, and senior Lourden Benjamin chipped
in with four points.
Rachel Vickio led Watkins Glen with 10 points.
