
WAVERLY BOUNCES BACK WITH LOPSIDED WIN OVER TRUMANSBURG

WAVERLY — Waverly bounced back from its home loss Tuesday in convincing
fashion here Wednesday night with a 77-14 rout of Trumansburg in IAC
South Small School Division girls basketball crossover action.
Less
than 24 hours after a 60-38 loss to Edison, the Lady Wolverines got off
to a bit of a slow start. senior Kennedy Westbrook canned a 3-pointer
and scored six points, and freshman Addison Westbrook connected on a
3-pointer and scored four points to help Waverly to an 11-5 lead after
the first eight minutes.
The remainder of the game was all Waverly.
Kennedy
Westbrook poured in 17 points, including a 3-pointer, in the second
quarter, and Addison Westbrook knocked down another 3-pointer, and
scored five points to fuel a 26-2 blitz to put Waverly up 37-7 at the
half.
The onslaught continued in the third quarter both
Westbrooks scored seven points, including a 3-pointer by each, and
junior Peyton Shaw drained a 3-pointer and scored five points in a 25-7
run that pushed the lead to 62-14 entering the final eight minutes.
Eighth-grader
Ryleigh Judson hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points in the
fourth quarter to spark a 15-0 game-closing run.
Kennedy
Westbrook led Waverly with 30 points, including a trio of 3-pointers,
and Addison Westbrook added 19 points, including four 3-pointers.
Judson
and Shaw scored eight points apiece in the win, while senior Alyvia
Daddona added six points, and junior Ashlen Croft chipped in with four
points.
Waverly, now 14-4, wraps up its regular season Friday when it hosts S-VE. Its game Tuesday against Horseheads has been canceled.
