WAVERLY — Waverly used a familiar formula in its 72-33 IAC Large School girls basketball crossover win over Dryden here last night: forcing turnovers and turning them into easy points, and knocking down 3-pointers.

Six different Lady Wolverines found the scoring column in the first quarter, with senior Kennedy Westbrook scoring six points, and sophomore Addison Westbrook adding five points in a game-opening 19-9 run.

Both Westbrooks, and 8th-grader Ryleigh Judson canned 3-pointers in the opening stanza — three of the nine Waverly would make in the game.

Addison Westbrook drained a pair of 3-pointers, and scored seven points in the second quarter, and Kennedy Westbrook added six points to fuel a 17-8 run that pushed the Lady Wolverine lead to 36-17 at the half.

The Westbrooks combined for nine points — Kennedy five, and Addison four — in the third quarter, and Judson canned another 3-pointer as Waverly upped its lead to 54-29 entering the final eight minutes.

For the third time in four quarters, Waverly had six players find the scoring column, led by nine options by Addison Westbrook, including her four 3-pointer, and a 3-pointer by junior Peyton Shaw.

Addison Westbrook led Waverly with 23 points, while Kennedy Westbrook scored 19, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Shaw had nine points.

Junior Asheln Croft scored seven points in the win, while Judson added six points on a pair of 3-pointers, and junior Paige Robinson chipped in with four points.

Waverly, now 10-2, returns to action Jan. 18 at Newark Valley.
