
WAVERLY FOURSOME SWEEPS RELAYS AT IAC CHAMPIONSHIPS; BREAKS TWO MORE RECORDS

WATKINS GLEN — The foursome of seniors Jerrell Sackett, Ryan Clark, and
Oscar Williams, and junior Liam Wright teamed to win all three relays,
setting a new pool and meet record in the 200-yard free relay, to lead
Waverly’s efforts here Saturday afternoon at the IAC Swimming
Championships.
The Waverly foursome won the 200-yard freestyle
relay in a pool and meet record of 1:29.49 — breaking the record of
1:29.76 set by Corning in 2020.
They won the 200-yard medley relay win in a time of 1:41.53, and the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:21.55.
Sackett, Clark and Williams also earned individual gold.
Sackett won 100-yard butterfly in a time of 53.63 seconds.
Clark
won the 50-yard freestyle in a personal-best time of 22.22 seconds,
while sophomore Grover Paxton was 10th in a personal-best 27.45 seconds,
and senior Simon Stevens was 15th in 31.36 seconds.
Oscar
Williams won the 100-yard freestyle in a personal-best time of 49.5
seconds, while Wright was second in 52.78 seconds, and freshman Finn
Williams was fifth in 57.91 seconds.
Finn Williams finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:07.0.
Stevens finished 11th in the backstroke in a time of 1:27.17.
Waverly
returns to action at the Class B preliminaries Wednesday, and the Class
B Championships Saturday — both at Maine-Endwell.
