CICERO — Waverly sophomore Micah Chandler took a beating in the 400-meter hurdle finals, but ended up on podium with a fifth-place finish — the Wolverines’ only medal of the day — here Friday at the New York State Division 2 Track & Field Championships.
CICERO — In his first year, Waverly junior Kayleb Bechy not only qualified for the New York State Division 2 Track & Field Championships, but saved his best for last — posting his career-best time in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash.
ENDICOTT — Waverly sophomore Micah Chandler is on the precipice of qualifying for the New York State Division 2 Boys Track & Field Championships after his performance on a rain-shortened Day 1 of the Section IV State Qualifier here Wednesday afternoon.
ONEONTA — Junior Kayleb Bechy and sophomore Micah Chandler were double-winners to lead Waverly to a fifth-place finish here Wednesday in the Section IV, Class C Track & Field Championships, while the Lady Wolverines finished fourth.
TRUMANSBURG — Freshman Harper Minaker registered the Waverly girls’ lone individual win, and junior Kennedy Westbrook had three top-two finishes at Day 2 of the IAC Track & Field Championships, while triple-winner sophomore Micah Chandler, and junior Kayleb Bechy paced the Waverly boys.
TRUMANSBURG — The Waverly girls registered six top-three finishes, including a relay win, and are in second place after Day 1 of the IAC Large School Track & Field Championships, while the Wolverine boys are in fifth place.
CORNING — The Waverly girls won four events and finished second at the Corning Fast Times Track & Field Invitational, while the Wolverine boys also won four events and finished third in the team standings.
NEWARK VALLEY — Junior Kayleb Bechy, senior Sam VanDyke, and sophomore Micah Chandler were triple-winners to pace Waverly’s efforts here Tuesday afternoon at the IAC South Large School divisional track & field meet.
HORSEHEADS — The Waverly girls and boys both finished second in the team standings at the inaugural Blue Shoes Track & Field Invitational.
WATKINS GLEN — Junior Kennedy Westbrook and sophomore Micah Chandler were the top winners of the day to lead the Waverly girls and boys to wins over Watkins Glen here Tuesday afternoon in IAC South Large School track & field action.
WYALUSING — Sophomore Micah Chandler placed in four events, and junior Kayleb Bechy placed in three events to lead the Waverly boys to an eight-place finish here Friday at the Lasagna Track & Field Invitational, while the Lady Wolverines finished 15th.
WAVERLY — It was a clean sweep in 2020-21 as Waverly athletes were crowned the top female and male three-sport athletes in the Valley.
MARATHON — Senior Caden Wheeler won a gold medal, and his classmate Collin Wright won a bronze here Saturday to lead a strong Waverly effort at the Section IV Track & Field Showcase, which featured athletes from nearly every school — 499 in all, regardless of size.
TRUMANSBURG — Waverly senior Caden Wheeler and junior Sam VanDyke each qualified for Saturday’s Section IV Track & Field Championships in two events.
