TIOGA CENTER — Senior Austyn Vance scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Tioga the lead for good in a wild, 13-12, win over Waverly here Monday afternoon in IAC softball action.
WAVERLY — Waverly landed two players on the IAC South Large School Divisional all-star team, and three more on the honorable mention list in recent voting by the division’s coaches.
WINDSOR — Second-seeded Windsor scored one run in the bottom of the first inning, and that was all it needed, although the Lady Knights added three runs late in the game for a 4-0 win over Waverly here Monday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Section IV, Class B playoffs.
WAVERLY — Heading into the weekend, it appeared the Waverly softball team would need a victory to qualify for the Section IV Class B tournament.
ENDICOTT — Union-Endicott scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, and made it stand for a 2-0 win over Waverly here Friday afternoon in non-league softball action.
WAVERLY — Waverly took advantage of an error to score a pair of runs in the sixth inning to pull out a 7-5 win over S-VE here Thursday afternoon in IAC softball action.
WAVERLY — Lansing jumped out to a 5-0 lead, then held off Waverly’s comeback efforts for an 8-5 win here Tuesday afternoon in IAC softball action.
ELMIRA HEIGHTS — Waverly scored three runs in the top of the first, but Edison answered with four in the bottom of the inning, and pulled away for a 10-5 win here Friday afternoon in IAC South Large School softball action.
WAVERLY — Junior Aubrey Ennis hit a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning to cap Waverly’s rally from a 5-0 deficit, but Newark Valley scored a run in the top of the eighth on a dropped third strike to pull out a 6-5 win here Wednesday afternoon in IAC South Large School Division softball action.
WAVERLY — Waverly erupted for 18 runs in the bottom of the first inning en route to a 22-3 five-inning win over Watkins Glen here Monday afternoon in IAC Large School softball action.
HERKIMER, N.Y. — Waverly dropped a 5-1 decision to a powerful Marcellus squad Saturday in the opening game of the James “Ace” Morabito Memorial Tournament here at the Mudville Softball Complex, then bounced back with a 16-2 win over Homer in the nightcap.
SOUTHPORT — Olivia Switzer tossed a 1-hitter, and was 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Notre Dame to a 5-0 win over Waverly here Wednesday afternoon in IAC Large School softball action.
WAVERLY — Thomas A. Edison scored two runs in the top of third inning to break a scoreless tie, then held off Waverly for a 3-2 win here Monday afternoon in IAC softball action.
VESTAL — Senior Hali Jenner pitched an extra-innings gem to lift Waverly to a 1-0 win over Vestal Saturday afternoon, but Small School powerhouse Deposit-Hancock’s bats pounded out a 13-3 win over the Lady Wolverines later in the day at the Jim Testa Tournament.
NEWARK VALLEY — Waverly built a 10-0 lead, powered by home runs from junior Aubrey Ennis and sophomore Michaela Lauper, on its way to a 15-6 win over Newark Valley in IAC softball action here on a rainy Friday afternoon.
